Director/Cast: James Wong/Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith

'Final Destination' is the latest teen horror flick with a difference. Rather than the characters being the prey of some second rate serial killer, they are being stalked by THE SERIAL KILLER - DEATH.

The premise is that Alex (Sawa) is about to jet off to Paris for a 10 day field trip with his school friends. However, after boarding the plane Alex dreams that it will explode after take off and flips out. As a result of his outburst he is ejected from the plane by security along with a teacher and 5 classmates (4 of whom want to make sure he's o.k. the other (Carter (Smith)) wants to kick his ass.). As foreseen, the plane blows up after take off and because the few who got off the plane have managed to cheat death, death comes after them.

The great thing about Final Destination is the fact that we're all going to die at some point but what if we do something at any one particular point it time that predetermines how we die, then, what if we manage to cheat death.

I know, there's a lot of what ifs and it all sounds a bit far fetched, but hey that's the beauty of the movies - ITS ESCAPISM.

Performances are all of a high standard and what makes the film fun is that like Deep Blue Sea, you don't know who's going to be the next to die.

Final Destination is a film that doesn't require too much thought, though, not nearly as frightening as the hype would suggest (granted, the adverts all showed women screaming!) it is a very good thriller.
